We believe that the CRC provides us with good accountability and support and is a great way for churches to work together. We are proud of the work of our denomination, the Christian Reformed Church, is doing here in the United States and throughout the world.

What is the history of your denomination?

Historically, The Christian Reformed Church is part of a group of churches that broke off from the Roman Catholic Church during the Protestant reformation in the middle ages. The Presbyterian and Lutheran denominations have similar roots and systems of church leadership. The Christian Reformed Church denomination began in the United States and Canada in the 1800's as Dutch immigrants moved here.

What is your denomination like today?

Today, The Christian Reformed Church is an increasingly diverse church (racially, ethnically, economically, geographically, etc) that takes on many forms (house churches, contemporary worship, traditional worship services, etc.). Our denomination is involved with disaster relief and community development all over the world. It runs a liberal arts college (Calvin College) and seminary (Calvin Theological Seminary) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It supports agencies which promote the development of new churches across North America and around the world. It is involved with improving race relations and providing ministries to the disabled and abused. It owns a publishing company which provides educational materials for churches.
